A REVIEW ON MARC ELIOT’S ‘AN AMERICAN REBEL’

Published in 2009, An American Rebel is an unauthorized biography of Hollywood heartthrob Clint Eastwood, by New York Times Bestselling author Marc Eliot. He is quite well known for his work on popular culture and media and has been the New York Times Bestselling author many times. Eliot has also written biographies on Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart, which have sold out many copies.

An American Rebel has been acclaimed for being well researched and methodical biography on the life of Clint Eastwood, the eBook and Audio Book of which may be pleasantly read on Selectvu. Unlike other biographies of Eastwood, Eliot has interviewed almost all the people who have been in contact with or has worked with the virile Cowboy from the Wild Wild West, at any given point of his life. The book has three parts: the first of which focuses on Eastwood’s life from birth till the year 1979 when he starts acting. The second part describes the years of 1979 to 1990, where the blossoming actor slowly starts dabbling with becoming an actor. The last part, based on the years 1990 to 2009, shows Eastwood’s rising success, be it in acting or directing, which finally earns him his first Oscar, to be followed by Academy Awards as an auteur.

Be it his “rags – to – riches” story, from a college dropout to a reigning legend in Hollywood, or his success both, in front of the camera in movies ‘Dirty Harry’ and ‘A Fistful of Dollars’, as well as behind the camera, by directing ‘Million Dollar Baby’ and ‘Gran Torino’, Clint has been an enigma for all his fans worldwide.
